In 2020. But the only obstacle is Corruption. I hope by education and with help of technology we would be able to overcome with that by 2020.

I don’t think we can achieve this is in 2020, it will take more time than that.
Normally, there is a saying:
“Aim for the stars so that you can reach the sky”.
Similarly, if we have a target of 2020 in mind, then we can achieve the status of a developed nation, a status of a global economy at least by 2035.
But, there are many things that is left to be done for that. One thing is proper development of agriculture. Now agriculture is being given a step-mother treatment which is a wrong sign for the growth.

I think India will end up on the high end service sector. Brazil will crush them in the farm sector and China will get them in the manufacturing sector. India will be the source for doctors, real medicine (as opposed to China’s counterfiet medicine), space technology and travel, the movie industry, mini-marts across the globe, public transportation around the globe, etc. I think most of that has happened now.

IT woild take a long course to come into effect. to mald this we have to remove old and illitarate, couut politicians from our country. see that all pay their tax to the Governmetn regularly.even you. more tess should be given to the standard education even to the rurals.we should make some arrangement s where farmer can sell his prodution directly in globl market.make education as priority. these will solve the problems.morever we are not able to solve our countries internal problems and tackle the terrorism.theno only india can become globla economy

In my opinion in our country we must follow the policy of “Industrialize or perish”. “Each one must teach one.”. Each and every one of us must contribute to our country. Then very soon India will become a global economy.

Your farms won’t compete until you have land reforms. Once your farms are at an appropriate size to take advantage of economies of scale, you will have a competitive agriculture.
India requires significant social reform to become a modern economy. You are already a growing global economy, but it will take at least 50 years to close the gap with Japan and the west. How quickly this happens depends on the degree of social reform.
Some Indian economics student always want to make India the exception to international growth trends. This exceptionalism is part of what is holding India back. Social arrangements, especially with poor farmers hinder India’s growth. Until these farmers are willing to sell their land and urbanize, they only slow the progress towards a developed economy.

the day india eliminates beaureaucracy, corruption, hypocrisy etc.
we will become a truly global economy.
just take the example od doordarshan. when such things happen in a country, you tell me will foriegn countries want to invest in such a place. i know of people who have to deal with problems upon problems to take money into the country for investments.
when faced with these type of problems we will never be truly global.
you want an approximate date, 2050.

India’s agriculture sector will never be internationally competitive. Nor is it in India’s interests to go this direction.
The most fertile parts of India are also is most populated. Countries need to have large, sparcely populated plains like what is found in Argentina, Canada or Australia to produce crops economically. India would be better off turning this lands into factories or business parks, and exporting what it does well.
And remember if you protect your markets, you cannot expect to have an export-led economy.
